The challenge with the Electronic Votive Shrines at Clonard Monastery, Falls Road, Belfast was the sheer size of the project. Two Shrines of 28 lights would suffice most churches. But when building 5 Shrines of 70 - 80 lights things begin to take on a new perspective. The amount of space alone to produce them would be enormous.

We agreed then to this end to manufacture and install one, and than on complete satisfaction, to manufacture them 2 at a time on a one month delivery basis.

The stands in this case were very old, perhaps 80 - 100 years and made of antique bronze and were probably a part of the Church’s original furnishings. They had however at some time been converted to electric Shrines.

A fundamental difference between electric and electronic Shrines is that the former are not automatic which entails the necessity of manually 'switching off' the lights when they are all lit. Not always convenient. Electronic Shrines however are completely automatic.

As mentioned previously, the stands were very old and very beautiful and it seemed obvious that the stands would play an integral part of the aesthetics of the finished product. To this end we decided to completely refurbish all of the bronze work, and set an Omnilux 70 light mahogany-finish Shrine onto the aforementioned.

The results can bee seen on our Examples Pages for this project.

We believe, that the mixture of old and new complement each other and would appreciate any comments you would like to send to us through our Contact Page.
